MEKOROT WATER COMPANY; ISRAEL'S NATIONAL WATER COMPANY; TO USE BIS ADVANCED SOFTWARE SYSTEMS' QBU™ ONLINE BACKUP AND RESTORE SOLUTION TO ENSURE BUSINESS CONTINUITY
October 2003
Tel Aviv, Israel – November 10, 2003 – BIS Advanced Software Systems Ltd., a veteran developer of data management software solutions, today announced that Mekorot Water Company, Israels national water company which supplies about two-thirds of the countrys water, purchased the QBU™ online backup and restore solution for its backup needs throughout the country.

QBU™ is an online data protection and disaster recovery solution used by ISPs, ASPs and enterprises to backup data to remote locations and allow for an effective restore in a matter of minutes. Unlike leading backup tools, QBU™ is very efficient in terms of storage, bandwidth and CPU requirements, transforming backup and restore into a fast, effective and affordable service. QBU™s differentiation is based on its high security level and its core TransFast™ technology, that enables byte-comparison, instead of block-comparison, when creating backup "delta" files. Byte comparison means that the generated "delta" files are exceptionally small and can be transmitted easily to be stored in the main data repository, where each users data is stored in separate and fully secured vaults, from which he may retrieve any file or directory at all times.

Mekorot selected QBU™ for its immediate need to backup critical data from its employees desktops and laptops, located all over the country. Mekorot intends for its end-users themselves, which include field engineers, managers, administrators, economists, purchasers and finance personnel, to independently manage the backup of their critical data. By the same token, these same end-users will be able to restore their data independently at any given time and from any location. QBU™ is intended for recovery during the regular course of business and is expected to be invaluable in cases of disaster, during which users will be able to recover their data independently, and free up IT personnel to address core business data recovery. As such, QBU™ will ensure Mekorots business continuity and fast return to normal operation following a widespread strike to its organizational data.

Beni Peleg, Mekorots Infrastructure Department Manager noted that, "Until now, recovery activities required the IT department to locate backup files and directories at central repositories and transmit the recovered data to the end user, obviously a time consuming process that burdens the network personnel. Deployment of QBU™ will make the entire process of backup and recovery more accessible, time efficient and cost effective".
Moti Miron, CEO of BIS Advanced Software Systems, remarked, "We designed QBU™ to address the needs of customers with a profile that is similar to Mekorot; namely, numerous users in various locations that need to backup and restore their critical data, and can do so independently. We are pleased that Mekorot recognized our systems inherent value and we are confident that it will meet, and even exceed, their expectations."
