Tel Aviv, Israel – January 20, 2003 – BIS Advanced Software Systems Ltd., innovative developer of data management software solutions, announces QBU™s expanded capabilities to include remote backup and restore of mega-files, much like those that reside on central servers.
This latest development, which is protected by a number of patents, expands the QBU™ scope to include backup and restore of all organizational data, be it critical data that resides on desktops, laptops and servers. With this ability to backup mega-files, QBU™ becomes one of the worlds most advanced and highest quality remote back up systems in the world. It offers companies the ability to run automatic daily backups of all organizational vital information, and store those backups on secure remote servers. QBU™ allows for the storage of many generations of back ups, which can be restored swiftly and reliably at any time, without the need for additional support or assistance. Equally important, QBU™ uses public IP infrastructures and narrow bandwidth for the transmission of backup and restored files, which translates into very low costs for the system and for the supporting infrastructures.
Backup of mega files is made possible by QBU™s unique TransFast™ technology, which enables the following processes: (1) Comparison of two versions of binary data (be it executable object codes, source files, data files, documents, zip files, graphic files and other software) at both the File and Directory levels. (2) Creation of the smallest delta possible, which is the net sum of the differences between the two levels. This byte-comparison technique, compared with the commonplace block-comparison technique, makes the delta files of mega files manageable.
QBU™s excellence is equally measured by the ability to restore backed up files and directories successfully and swiftly. With QBU™, clients achieve a 100% restoration success rate, with no losses of data in the event of disasters, or alternatively, as part of a daily requirement to compare current and past versions. Any user can independently download any saved backup versions from the backup server to his workstation, at the click of a button, and without technical support or other manual intervention.
QBU™s advanced new capabilities are equally protected by BIS renowned security capabilities, which it accumulated over the years with sensitive entities such as the military, policy, banks and other financial institutions. Using this expertise, files backed up by QBU™ are encrypted and stored in logical personal safes in this format, thus they are indecipherable to any possible infiltrator. Once the information is retrieved from the backup server, it can only be deciphered on the originating workstation, and following proof of identity of the originating user. Encryptions are made by the most advanced algorithms in the world today - DES 3DES RSA RC4 PKI - and with the longest possible keys for each of them.
"When we began to develop QBU™, we envisioned a backup and restore system that can provide a comprehensive solution to organizations, be it enterprises, other large organizations, ISPs and ASPs. With the ability to backup and restore mega files, we have now reached our goal of providing the most advanced and comprehensive solution to a very pressing need," said Moti Miron, CEO of BIS Advanced Software Systems Ltd. He continued, "We encourage organizations to explore the possibility of deploying this very important disaster recovery tool."
