RAMAT GAN MUNICIPALITY DEPLOYS THE QBU™ REMOTE BACKUP
November 2002
Tel Aviv, Israel – November 11, 2002 – BIS Advanced Software Systems Ltd., innovative developer of data management software solutions, announces deployment of the QBU™ remote backup and restore over IP system at the Ramat-Gan Municipality.

Ramat-Gan is the Israeli city that was hardest hit during the Gulf War of 1991, with numerous Iraqi scud missiles hitting residential buildings in the city and causing substantial loss in property, as well as a number of deaths and injuries. Following this traumatic experience, Ramat Gan is in the process of a widespread Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) in preparation for the likely U.S. attack on Iraq in early 2003, and the possible ramifications in Israel.

As part of this plan, Ramat Gan Municipalitys MIS division is focused on safeguarding its information infrastructures, and is considered a pioneer in deployment of the latest security and protection technologies. Deployment of QBU™ at the Ramat Gan Municipality includes backup of critical workstations and servers that are situated throughout the City. These resources will be backed up automatically, with backup files transmitted over IP lines to a remote backup server that is situated a safe distance from the city of Ramat-Gan. The MIS department will be able to monitor and manage the backed up data, using QBU™s remote management tools.

QBU™, BIS latest software solution, enables ISPs, ASPs, enterprises and other large entities the ability to backup their critical data to remote servers and then restore the necessary data in a matter of minutes. This service is made available online with minimal investment to the customer. The QBU™ system essentially enables the consolidation of tens to hundreds of workstations situated in various sites. The backed up data is encrypted, compressed, and then transferred to a faraway remote server for safekeeping. As such, users can be assured that their data is stored securely in a separate location and available for recovery according to need. QBU™ differentiates itself from other backup tools by offering a new byte-comparison technology that creates unusually small delta files, thus requiring substantially less storage space and less bandwidth for transmission than alternative solutions.

"We are proud that the QBU™ system is becoming an integral part of Ramat-Gans impressive Disaster Recovery Plan, and we are pleased to provide this solution which fills a gap in their DRP", remarked Moti Miron, CEO of BIS Advanced Software Systems, developer of QBU™. He further added that, "we hope that other organizations and enterprises that are taking preventative measures will also recognize the value of our reliable backup and restore solution."
